Weston Pro 2300 Review

Ease of Use
Definitely no slouch on the job, the Weston Pro 2300 is a different type of machine altogether compared with other standard offerings in the market. It is in fact, the most capable and the largest external vacuum sealer in the commercial grade range. This heavy-duty cyclic vacuum sealer will handle anything you throw at it and can easily seal up 30 pounds of porterhouse steaks within seconds, rearing for more.
Got game meat on hand, fresh from the range? No problem, just plug this 935-watt double piston pump beauty in and bag up all the meat you want to without a single break. It won’t complain, whine or break apart until all your meat is sealed tight. The Weston Pro 2300 comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
About the Weston Pro 2300
Weighing in at about 27 pounds and measuring twice as large as your average vertical vacuum sealer, it definitely isn’t the most portable design out there. However, who needs a portable vacuum sealer when you can do everything all at once never having to stop to cool down? This neon blue lighted baby is capable of beating any portable machine hands down purely based on its performance so if a need arises, take it along on your next hunt and bag and tag your game meat every day.
If it is only bags that you wish to seal and don’t plan on sealing jars or canisters then the Weston Pro 2300 is an amazing piece of hardware for your kitchen. Unfortunately, there is no way you can seal jars and canisters since it doesn’t have an accessory port. Other than this drawback in terms of functionality, it does everything else.
Sealing for the purpose of marinating is quick, simple and hassle-free, which by the way works fine in the auto setting as long as you use Weston vacuum bags. As for dry sealing meat, I have yet to come across a better external vacuum sealer than the Pro 2300. But when sealing wet items, it does tend to make stuff more watery so take care to use a slightly larger bag. Moreover, with a larger heating bar rather than a strip found in entry-level products, the seal is always perfect and you end up wasting fewer bags.
Made in Taiwan instead of China is the first positive reinforcement about the design of the Weston Pro 2300. And since it is entirely constructed from stainless steel, with a large fan cooling the pump and motor, you know it has got quality stamped all over it. However, I do give it a 20 second cooldown time after every seal in an attempt to prolong its life.My only qualm is that it is large and takes up about 25 percent more footprint than an average vacuum sealer capable of handling large bags. On the upside, this design element lets you seal 11 to 13-inch bags as well.
Ease Of Use
You don’t need instructions or even a manual to learn how to use the Weston Pro 2300. It is self-explanatory. To start with there are just three buttons two of which let you seal. One is an automatic mode that senses when the air has been completely sucked out of the bag and the other is a manual mode where you keep watch over the bag and decide when to stop it. It is that simple, using this vacuum sealer.
Warranty And Replacements
1-year limited warranty covers all components and Weston has a good history of producing reliable products. So, I believe this vacuum sealer will last a good couple of years before requiring repairs and replacement. However, considering the price tag, it would have been nice to see a 2-year warranty on this baby.
There is nothing really to maintain with the Weston Pro-2300. For starters, it uses Weston Vac Mesh bags, which are priced at par with other leading brands and at times cheaper than a few generic brands too. As for the heating bar or the pump, I haven’t witnessed anything to suggest regular maintenance requirements. Each time you start the unit, it fires up to a good 28 hg pressure and stops soon after ready to go once again. The exterior never heats up and with the fan running at full blast, I expect the motor and pump too to stay cool over a session of 20 to 25 bags at once.
